Dave’s comment “they’re not worried about you being offensive, they’re worried about you being able to defend yourself” reminded me of something Colion Noir said on the subject of types of guns in the hands of citizens (the militia). I’ll paraphrase: “what people fail to understand is that, when I go into a fight to protect my family and the people I love, I don’t want it to be a fair fight. I want to be heavily favored in that fight with firepower, training, etc.”
For me the last thing I want is the guy opposing me, trying to get to my family, to heavily out-gun me, especially if that advantage is mandated by some government that doesn’t care if I’m dead..or perhaps even might be happier to have me dead because I don’t think in the way they want me to think, whether that’s China, Russia, or Canada, etc.
