Being prepared is more than just getting a bunch of gear. Please consider that being prepared would include all of the following aspects and more.
- Planning (Pre-planning)
- Considering dark scenarios is scary for many people, but everyone needs to think this stuff through.
- Training and practice
- Spiritual preparation
- Networking
- Location / Relocation / Bug out?
- Personal and Family Documentation (Important documents)
- Money
- (or equivalents / barter)
- Gear
- Will to act.
- What are the criteria for you to finally take action based on your plans? (Shoulda, coulda, woulda???) This is possibly the hardest thing to figure out.

I’m keeping in my library any *older* versions of myths, legends, folk tales and songs, and fairy tales. Also first person accounts of historical events, including family histories and journals. Books that teach skills or crafts, religious texts, and books that showcase humanity. We may see a day when our humanity is forced or bred out of our society. To overcome this psychological warfare we need music, poetry, literature, plays, art etc to learn how to be humans again. I’ll have a mutual friend get in touch with you about the shirt.
No t-shirt for me!! The game is rigged!!! Here’s my monkey wrench about prepare items. My magazine (hard copies) Playboy Playmate collection. It has great articles about human interactions. There is a reason my name is Pepe LePew. I love, love. Yes, I bought them for the articles. Unlike others, I do read them.
In my defense it was not a pregnancy test. There are other kinds of tests: pH, ketone, glucose, etc.

Developing the will to act is critical. All the war gaming, paper planning, etc in the world won’t be helpful if, when the time comes, you just freeze. Some of the best advice I’ve heard on this subject is to purposefully, deliberately, get outside your comfort zone, and spend some time doing some things that are uncomfortable. Whatever that means for you, break routines. Find opportunities to walk into situations you don’t often find yourself in. Meet new people. Don’t be an idiot, but take some risks. Talk to strangers. Whatever makes you feel awkward and uncomfortable, make yourself do it.
