So yes it’s not technically “fiat” (by decree) … if it were maybe we wouldn’t have to have both debt and inflation. Think about it. If the government just printed money, then we would have inflation but not debt. We don’t need to be in debt. The reason we are in debt is because of the private money monopoly called the federal reserve. So it’s a double whammy. – Jordan
