Dramatic Correction

Jordan incorrectly said that phōnos (phone-os) was a constituent root of the word telephone… an unfortunate mispronunciation of phōnḗs (phonays – “of the voice”). The ultimate root word is related. It’s actually phōnḗ, which means “sound” or “tone” and is related to the voice. The similar Greek phónos (fah – nos) means “murder” or “slaughter.”

NOTE

OGGE = Oscar Golden Globe Emmy all melted into one.

Thanks for moving on from the sports ball talk. I was zoning out.
Just like I’ve decided to stick with Japanese cars because American car quality has not impressed me, I’m steering away from American entertainment as well. It’s become overly gay and shallow. I didn’t realize how bad it’s become until I started watching older stuff and Korean and Japanese stuff.

I think this classic quote from CS Lewis sums up the EU:

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
