Dramatic Correction

Jordan incorrectly said that phōnos (phone-os) was a constituent root of the word telephone… an unfortunate mispronunciation of phōnḗs (phonays – “of the voice”). The ultimate root word is related. It’s actually phōnḗ, which means “sound” or “tone” and is related to the voice. The similar Greek phónos (fah – nos) means “murder” or “slaughter.”

OGGE = Oscar Golden Globe Emmy all melted into one.

Thanks for moving on from the sports ball talk. I was zoning out.
Just like I’ve decided to stick with Japanese cars because American car quality has not impressed me, I’m steering away from American entertainment as well. It’s become overly gay and shallow. I didn’t realize how bad it’s become until I started watching older stuff and Korean and Japanese stuff.

I think this classic quote from CS Lewis sums up the EU:

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

This is an interesting coincidence that I discovered while watching the movie Vantage Point for the first time recently, since it has been mentioned many times during the 5 years of this show. Apparently, the shooting of the U.S. President in this movie AND the shooting of Charlie Kirk happened at the exact same time: 12:23 PM. Coincidence? OR the powers at be mocking us? Who knows.

Also, on this show Candace Owens has been proclaimed crazy and unhinged in her investigation of the Charlie Kirk shooting. I have watched her livestream every day since Sep 10, and I think she is not crazy at all, just passionate, honest, and truly a force of journalism to be reckoned with. Yes, her Instagram and X content are mostly snippets of sensational content, but in her day-to-day podcast show, she is VERY organized, thorough, and is chasing all leads, not to mention battling media attacks with the brute force of truth. I think she, although maybe not always right, shares very important information concerning the larger forces behind CK’s death, which are at least worth looking more into.

When we stepped away from the church, our Bishop and Stake President knew it was because we did not believe that the leaders were true Prophets, Seers and Revelators. They gave us a list of things we could not do unless we wanted them to basically come after us. Their biggest direction was, do not gain a following and go out and preach to everyone that President Monson (at the time) and the First Presidency and the Twelve were not true prophets, Seers and Revelators.
We did not do anything that would have made them bring us back in. But about 5 months later, we were brought back in after our Regional conference. We met with the Stake president, and our bishop, and their only concern was whether we still didn’t believe Thomas Monson, the rest of the First Presidency and the Twelve were Prophets, Seers, and Revelators.
We told them that we did not believe that they were , and then went on to give our testimonies of Christ, and also the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, but they didn’t care. They kept pointing to the picture on the wall of the First Presidency and asking us what we thought of those men?
    We were given three options:
    1. Testify of the Brethren, and we could just go on our merry way.
    2. Remove our names from the records of the Church. This is the option they wanted us to take and over and over kept saying, “We don’t want to be the bad guys here.”
    3. They would bring us in for a Church court on the grounds of apostasy to the Brethren and be excommunicated.

They had been instructed during the Regional conference from THE TOP, to get rid of people like us who believed in the restoration and that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet, Seer, and Revelator, but believed that the current leaders were not.

    Good times!

Adding a little more to my comment above, for the rest of the time the Bishop who was part of encouraging us to leave and remove our names from the records was Bishop, i wasn’t even allowed to play the piano at church. I was asked several times if I would play for baptisms and once for an Easter program, but the bishop would not allow me to play.

The next bishop knew us well, and I had been asked to play for the baptism of a friend. I told her she would have to get permission from the Bishop, and he agreed that I could play.
It seems like that was a bit of bishop roulette on what happens after you are no longer a member? But the first bishop wouldn’t even allow me to play the piano.
